IRCTC Down: The Chhath festival, the last festival of this festive season, has begun. There's a scramble for railway tickets to travel home. Meanwhile, social media is abuzz with complaints that the IRCTC website is down. People are struggling to book tickets for Chhath. While IRCTC has yet to issue an official statement, it is responding to social media users who have made complaints by tagging its X handle.
A website called DownDetector reported the IRCTC website down. DownDetector tracks and reports outages and service disruptions for online platforms, apps, and websites in real time. It reported seeing approximately 180 reports on IRCTC around 10 a.m. today.
IRCTC Addressing People's Complaints
One user reported a problem with ticket booking, writing, "The IRCTC website is down during ticket booking, sir. Please take necessary action." He also attached a screenshot of the booking. IRCTC responded to a post, saying, “Please register your concern/complaint using your registered mobile number/mail ID at https://equery.irctc.co.in/irctc_equery/.” A student, presumably taking an exam, also reported that the IRCTC server was down, preventing them from taking the exam.
User @Pradeep63235513 wrote, “The IRCTC website completely crashed just 1 minute before #TatkalBooking opened. I've been trying to book an AC ticket for my exam for the past 3 days. This happens every festive season. #IRCTCDown #TatkalBooking #FestiveTravel #IndianRailways.”
Another affected passenger said, “There's definitely some issue with the IRCTC app for the general public. Either it's a glitch or a major technical glitch. We couldn't book our tickets. Sharing a snapshot in case it helps us find a solution.”
