Pitru Paksha 2025: Pitru Paksha is given special importance in Hinduism. Every year, Pitru Paksha starts from Shukla Purnima of the Bhadrapada month and ends on Ashwin Amavasya. During this time, which lasts for about fifteen days, people pay tribute to their ancestors and perform Tarpan, Shradh, and Pinddaan for the peace of their souls. Remembering the ancestors during this time keeps their blessings on the family and brings happiness and prosperity.
Some rules have to be strictly followed during the days of Pitru Paksha; otherwise, its bad effects are seen in life. These days, auspicious work, religious rituals, or shopping for anything is prohibited. By doing this, you can displease the ancestors. In such a situation, let us know which tasks should be avoided on these days.
What is Pitru Dosh?
According to astrology, when the souls of ancestors are unhappy, it causes troubles and obstacles in the lives of descendants. This situation is called Pitru Dosh. It is believed that during Pitru Paksha, ancestors come to earth and bless their family. During this time, if they do not get proper respect and reverence, they get angry. Therefore, the deeds done during this period are very important.
What not to do in Pitru Paksha
Some tasks have been prohibited in Pitru Paksha, which should not be done even by mistake during this period.
Buying new clothes, shoes, or slippers in Pitru Paksha is considered inauspicious.
It is forbidden to organize marriage, engagement, or other auspicious events during this period.
Avoid consuming tamasic food like meat, fish, egg, onion, and garlic, etc. at this time.
Buying gold and silver at this time is also considered inauspicious.
Do religious work as much as possible and follow celibacy.
Do not behave disrespectfully towards others and respect elders.
Chant mantras to please ancestors
Chanting mantras has special importance in Pitru Paksha. Chanting these mantras pleases ancestors.
