Importance of Sawan Purnima
It is believed that bathing in the name of ancestors in holy rivers, lakes, or pilgrimage places on the day of Sawan Purnima purifies both the body and the mind. Along with this, blessings of ancestors are received, and Pitradosha is also removed. According to religious beliefs, this day is to receive the special blessings of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. By bathing in the Ganga, Yamuna, Godavari, Narmada, or any holy water body, the sins of past births are also destroyed. By bathing and worshiping in Brahmamuhurta, one attains mental peace, health, and prosperity. Sawan Purnima is on Saturday, so there is also a law to worship Shanidev on this day.

Importance of donation on Sawan Purnima
Donation in the name of ancestors on Sawan Purnima is considered the second biggest virtuous act. It is said in religious texts that donating food, clothes, fruits, milk, ghee, and gold on this day gives many times the result. Donating to the needy brings happiness and prosperity in the family, along with the grace of God and the grace of ancestors. This donation can not only be of material things, but also of time, service, and love. It is mentioned in the Puranas that by bathing and donating on the day of Sawan Purnima, a person attains salvation and negative energy is removed from his life. Like Guru Purnima, this day is also good for taking blessings of Guru, elders and saints.

Sawan Purnima Puja Vidhi
On the last day of Sawan month, take a bath in holy rivers and offer tarpan in the name of ancestors. After this, wear clean clothes.
Sit facing east or north. Spread a clean yellow or red cloth on a wooden board. Install the idol/picture of Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, or your Ishtadev on it.
To do special worship of the moon, fill water in a silver urn and put durva, rice, and white flowers in it.
After this, light a lamp. Take water, akshat, and flowers in the right hand and take a pledge that you are doing Sawan Purnima fast/puja, for the well-being of your family.
Now worship Ganesha, worship with Om Gan Ganpataye Namah mantra. Now worship Shiva, anoint the Shivling with water, Gangajal, and Panchamrit. Offer Belpatra, Dhatura, Akshat, and Sandalwood.
Worship Vishnu/Balkrishna, offer Tulsi leaves, yellow flowers and Ganga water.
