Oliver Glasner has become so obsessed with winning - losing connect four to his daughter felt like failure. The Crystal Palace boss does not view any match where silverware is up for grabs as a glorified friendly.
Instead, he wants to fire the Eagles to their second trophy in four months at Wembley. Speaking on the perception of English football's annual curtain-raiser, Glasner said ahead of facing Liverpool: "For me, when you play a final and when you play for silverware, you always want to win it.
"I mention it so often, sometimes I felt like this when we were talking about the Carabao Cup - we enter a competition to win it. When we are playing a game in training, I hope everyone wants to win it. It's about having a winning mentality. When I was at home following the training camp in Austria, I lost twice in a row at connect four against my daughter. I was really upset, honestly, I think it's just the mindset you have. I hope this is what we will always try to create."

Following a hugely disruptive summer, Glasner is now hopeful Palace can finally do their talking on the pitch. On Monday, they will learn their Europa League fate following their date with destiny at the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The Austrian, who is "always positive," is optimistic there will be good news in what would also prove a major boost ahead of next week's top-flight opener at Chelsea.
He continued: "I can't see anything why we should be demoted or why we should stay in the Conference League. If you get punished when you feel innocent, that's tough."
Glasner is adamant the lingering uncertainty hasn't impacted his players - nor targets they have attempted to sign. The 50-year-old revealed: "No, it hasn't affected the squad.
"The first meeting we had when we met, we just mentioned it once. Our slogan is to focus on things we can influence and when we get the final verdict on August 11, we will accept it. The players have done very well, the whole pre-season they've trained and worked very hard."
Palace have become somewhat of a bogey side for Liverpool and are unbeaten in their last two visits to Anfield. But Arne Slot's side has changed drastically since the two teams met on the final day of last season following a £295m transfer splurge.
Glasner is in awe of the quality within Liverpool's ranks, stating: "The toughest thing was what happened to Diogo Jota and his brother. But outside of that, if you are the champion and then you invest this kind of money, bringing in top players with a clear profile, it shows huge ambition."
