Newsboy's horse racing selections for Thursday's five meetings, including Windsor nap

NAKAAHA looks ripe for the hat-trick as she runs for Wales & The West in the Racing League Race 24 Handicap (6.00) at Windsor this evening.

The daughter of Bated Breath failed to find the target in four attempts for James Tate before a switch to Gwent-based Grace Harris during the summer.

There wasn’t much to write home about in a 10th-of-12 finish at 80-1 when my selection started out for her new stable in a handicap at Ffos Las on June 29.

But Nakaaha left that form – and all her previous efforts – way behind with a 33-1 success by a head from Earthwatch at Newbury 29 days later.

And she followed up in another mile handicap at Newbury last Tuesday week, moving well within herself before hitting the front a furlong out to hold Condotti by three and a quarter lengths.

Nakaaha, on whom Trevor Whelan replaces David Egan, carries a 6lb penalty here - and that leaves him 4lb well in after the British Horseracing Authority Handicapper has had his say.

At Chelmsford City, BACKER BILK is expected to get off to a winning start for James Owen as the ex-Jim and Suzi Best trainee seeks to shrug off top weight in the concluding Paddy Power Handicap (8.45).
