Two women have sadly died after getting into trouble while in the sea at two nearby popular beaches.
One victim, believed to be in her 50s, was pulled from the water at Portreath beach near St Ives, Cornwall, on Sunday. She was suspected to have suffered a cardiac arrest and paramedicswere unable to revive her having been scrambled to the scene just after midday. Less than four hours later, another woman's body was tragically discovered and she is believed to have gone swimming at Porthcothan beach near Padstow when she got into trouble. Her body was found face down in the water.
The beaches were packed at the time as many people on holiday headed to the coast to enjoy the hot weather over the weekend and many witnessed the tragedy unfold. It comes after a dead body is found in 'underground ancient cave' in popular UK beauty spot.

The RNLI were involved in the emergency operations where neither woman could be saved and authorities have warned people of the dangers of the sea with people looking to cool down at the beach.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of both women at this incredibly difficult time. There is no indication that the two incidents are connected.”
The Force Incident Manager (FIM) said officers were alerted at around 12.35pm on Sunday after receiving a report from South Western Ambulance Service Trust about the woman at Portreath beach.
And the force said officers were called to assist paramedics as the beach as it was particularly busy at that time. It is understood that neither woman has not been formally identified.
The latest incidents come after a woman in her 60s has died at Skegness beach with emergency services called at 5.39pm on Friday, August 8, following reports of a person in the sea.
The Coastguard, RNLI, Lincolnshire Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service attended the incident and found a woman in her 60s who had got in difficulty at sea but she could not be saved. A spokesperson from the RNLI confirmed CPR was carried out on a person at the beach. Her next of kin have been informed.
A spokesperson from Lincolnshire Police said: "We received a call from the Coastguard at 5.39pm today (August 8) reporting that they had rescued a woman who had got in difficulty in the sea at Skegness. The woman, aged in her 60s, was brought onto shore but sadly she died. Her next of kin are aware. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time."
