BBC Radio star Lee Harris didn't hold back on his thoughts as Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner announced her resignation. It comes after she admitted to underpaying her stamp duty by £40,000 when purchasing a £800,000 seaside flat in Hove.
She referred herself to the PM's ethics adviser earlier this week, which found todayshe breached the ministerial code and "did not heed the caution" in legal advice she received.
Rayner then announced her resignation as Deputy Prime Minister and deputy leader of the Labour party. Upon hearing the news, GB News and BBC Radio commentator Lee Harris posted on X: "BREAKING: Tax-dodging hypocrite, Angela 'Three Pads' Rayner, has just RESIGNED! She lied. She's a colossal hypocrite. She's not fit for office. Good riddance."
He also added: "CONFIRMED: Angela Rayner *broke the ministerial code*. Laurie Magnus: 'She did not uphold the highest standards in public office'.
"She lied and was forced to resign in disgrace. This is an absolute disaster for Keir Starmer. This gov't is falling apart.
"This lying, two-faced, hypocritical, Britain-hating Labour government is an absolute disaster. We need a general election."
It comes just days after Harris hit out at Rayner over her tearful interview with Beth Rigby from Sky News as she admitted to the error.
He said on X: "The only reason Angela Rayner was crying is because she got caught. Working class hero and colossal tax-dodging hypocrite, Angela 'three pads' Rayner, is on resignation watch. It's impossible for her to come back from this. Her position is untenable. Tick tock."
In her resignation letter, Rayner said she takes "full responsibility" for her error in her resignation letter. She penned that she "deeply regret[s]" her decision not to seek additional specialist tax advice given her position in the government and her "complex" personal situation.
She added: "I take full responsibility for this error. I would like to take this opportunity to repeat that it was never my intention to do anything other than pay the right amount."
