Parts of the UK will be hit with freezing temperatures this month. WXCharts has forecast wintry weather to sweep across 34 counties on November 18, bringing temperatures of -1C and cold winds. Is your county on the list?
As November gets underway, the Met Office has said that blustery weather with further rain showers typical for the time of year are expected to continue, with strong winds and possible gales forecast in the northwest. As the month progresses, the forecaster says weather patterns will settle and dry periods will become more common, with temperatures likely to reach above average by mid-November. On November 18, it will be coldest in the Cairngorms National Park, near Braemar and Balmoral, at -1C. Eight counties in Scotlandwill see 0C (Highland, Moray, Aberdeenshire, Perth and Kinross, Stirling, Argyll and Bute, South Lanarkshire, Scottish borders). The rest of the country will see lows of 1C. In England, six counties will get to freezing temperatures (Northumberland, Cumbria, Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall). All of Wales will see 0C, bar Powys and Wrexham, where it will be between 1C and 5C. The rest of England will sit between 2C and 7C.
The south coast (Southampton, Brighton), northeast coast (Middlesborough, Scarborough, Hull), and northwest (Liverpool, Blackpool) will be between 2C and 3C.
East Anglia (Norwich, Ipswich) will be between 3C and 5C, and the Midlands will be 5C. Northern Ireland (Belfast, Derry) will see temperatures between 1C and 2C. It will be warmest in Peterborough, where minimum temperatures will reach 7C.
The Met Office said of the period: "A greater chance of periods of high pressure bringing more in the way of dry weather, compared to the current weather pattern, which also increases the chances of overnight fog and frost.
"There will most likely however still be periods of rain, showers, and stronger winds, especially in the west. Weather patterns are very uncertain during late November.
"Overall, near or above average temperatures are most likely though some colder spells are possible, especially should any prolonged settled spells develop."
Today: A cloudy day, with outbreaks of rain. The rain is heaviest and most persistent across the high ground in the west. Some sunnier skies developing at times, mainly towards southeast England and also northeast Scotland. Very mild and rather windy.
Tonight: Outbreaks of rain continuing through the night, mainly focused across northern and western England and Wales. Drier elsewhere, with scattered showers. Very mild, particularly in the south. Blustery winds.
Tuesday: A wet and windy day for much of western England and Wales. Brighter elsewhere, but with the continued risk of showers here too. Very mild for the time of year.
Outlook for Wednesday to Friday: Staying unsettled for many. Often cloudy, with showers or longer spells of rain moving through. Some drier and brighter interludes between weather systems. Often windy and staying mild throughout.
