NEW DELHI: An IndiGo flight carrying 76 passengers from Madurai made a safe landing at Chennai airport on Saturday after the pilot detected a crack in the aircraft’s windshield shortly before arrival, officials said, according to news agency PTI.
According to airport authorities, the pilot noticed the crack on the front glass mid-flight and promptly informed Air Traffic Control .
Precautionary arrangements were made on the ground, allowing the plane to land safely without any incident.
After landing, the aircraft was moved to a separate parking bay (Bay No. 95), and all passengers disembarked safely. The airline has begun arrangements to replace the damaged windshield.
Officials said the cause of the crack is still under investigation. The return flight to Madurai was cancelled due to the incident.
IndiGo has not yet issued an official statement.
